For many years the bagel has been considered the most popular Jewish food around the world. The art of making bagels was developed by Jews in Europe and over the years was brought to the United States, which is now considered the bastion of the bagel. In the US, there are bagel stores on many street corners and people go there to start the morning or for a nice lunch.
Sam Bagels was established in 2004 with the goal of bringing the American bagel experience to Israel.Making bagels requires special knowledge- from special flour mixtures to traditional leavening agents. The Sam’s Bagels recipe originated with the Greenstein family who have been making bagels for five generations and are members of a bagel-bakers organization in New York. Sam learned every step of bagel-making from them.
The founders of Sam’s Bagels built a factory to make bagels, pastries & cookies, and it was not long until they opened four stores throughout Jerusalem, each with American design to match the characteristics of the New York bagel that they provide.
